The Celtic Crescent Exhibition

Although Muslims in Scotland have only become permanent part of Scottish life within the last 75 years, however the historical connections between Scotland and the Muslim world stretch much further back.

A recent exhibition created by Islam Information Scotland, entitled The Celtic Crescent has explored this rich tapestry of history uncovering numerous facts.

These have included; the Scottish diplomat from Fife, who during the British Raj settled in India and married a Muslim princess; Lady Evelyn Cobbold of Edinburgh who was the first British female to perform the pilgrimage to Mecca; and Thomas Keith, the Scottish Governor of Madinah (the second holiest city of Islam).

A sample of the exhibition is available to view at this Download Link.

If you would like to hire this exhibition for your event please contact iiScotland for further information.

The theme is 'Things We Have In Common - Scottish Islam' and seeks to highlight the compatibility and mutual respect thriving between the Muslim and Non-Muslim communities within Scottish society. We hope in this way to create awareness, enhance mutual understanding and increase interaction and cooperation on common issues.
